The Spanish Stock Exchange traded €65.8 bn. in June, up 36.2% from May. The number of trades grows 51%

MONTHLY TRADING STATEMENTS FOR BME MARKETS

  • The equity trading volume in the first six months of the year totaled €389.7 billion
  • The number of trades in June reached 6 million, up 51% from May and up 10.7% from the same month a year earlier
  • On 24 June the number of trades recorded was the second highest in the history of the stock market
  • In June trading in Index Futures increased 36.1% year-on-year
  • In June new issues on the Corporate Debt market reached €15.7, up 60.3% from the same period a year earlier.

Equities 

The equity trading volume on the Spanish Stock Exchange in June came in at €65.8 billion, up 36.2% from May. The trading volume in the first six months of 2016 came in at €389.7 billion, down 25% year-on-year. 

The number of trades in June reached 6 million, up 51% from May and up 10.7% from the same month a year earlier. On 24 June the number of trades recorded reached 671,634, the second highest in the history of the stock market. The number of trades to June reached 30.1 million, down 9% from the same period the previous year. 

As for the ETF segment, the trading volume in June came in at €653.9 million, up 115.8% from May. The ETF trading volume in the first six months in this segment totalled €3.7 billion, down 41.7% from the same period a year earlier. 

The number of ETF trades in June totaled 18,647, up 78.7% from the previous month and up 8.2% year-on-year. The number of trades in the first six months totalled 91,219, up 5.5% from the same period a year earlier. 

The trading volume on the Warrants and Certificates market to the end of June reached €394.5 million, down 38.3% year-on-year.  In June the trading volume reached €74.9 million, up 34.8% from the same month in 2015.

 

Futures and Options

In June 5.8 million contracts were traded on the Derivatives market, up 3.2% from the same month in 2015.

In June trading in Index Futures increased 36.1% year-on-year. There were 678,737 IBEX 35 Futures contracts traded and 254,374 million Mini IBEX Futures, with respective increases of 31.8% and 46% year-on-year. Trading in IBEX35 Options reached 379,003 contracts in June, up 110.2% from the previous month.

In June trading in Stock Futures reached almost 2 million and 2.5 million contracts in Stock Options, posting respective increases of 16.3% and 15.2% year-on-year.

Trading on Futures on Stock Dividends in June grew 89.5% and experiences an increase of 17% in the open interest. 

Futures on IBEX Impact Dividend reported an increase in trading of 86.4% for the first six months of the year, with the open interest standing at 23,749 contracts, up 24.9% year-on-year.

Corporate Debt

New issues on the Corporate Debt market in June came in at €15.7 billion, up 60.3% compared to June 2015. In the first six months of the year new issues totaled €84.4 billion.

The trading volume on the Corporate Debt market in June was €15.8 billion while it totaled €99.1 billion in the first six months of the year. 

The volume of new issues on MARF reached €183 million in June, which is more than 4 times (345.5%)  as much as that for the same month a year earlier. In the first six months of the year new issues in this market totalled €1 billion, more than three times (174.3%)  that for the same previous year. 

In June trading on BME’s Public Debt wholesale electronic platform, SENAF, reached €19.1 billion, more than double (139.2%) the amount reported for the same period last year while in the first six months of the year the trading volume totaled €88.8 billion, 80.6% higher than in the same period last year.
