The number of equity trades on the Spanish market in November reached 4.9 million, up 13% year-on-year

Equities

The number of equity trades on the Spanish Stock Market markets in November reached 4.9 million, up 17% from the preceding month and 13% higher than in the previous year. The number of trades in the first eleven months of the year totaled 50.4 million, down 12% from a year earlier. 

The trading volume in November came in at €46.4 billion, up 5.3% from the previous month and down 33% in relation to the same month a year earlier. The equity trading volume in the first eleven months of the year on the Spanish Stock Market was €603.9 billion, down 32.5% year on year and in line with the downward trend in activity reported by all international stock markets.

As for the ETF segment, the trading volume in the first eleven months of the year totaled €5.6 billion, down 51.7% from the same period a year earlier. Trading volume in November reached €605 million, down 27% year-on-year. 

The trading volume on the Warrants and Certificates market to the end of November totaled €664 million, of which €55.8 million correspond to the last month, reflecting a 20.8% decrease in comparison to November of last year.

 

Futures and Options

The trading volume in the Derivatives market in November reached 3.6 million contracts, up 47% from the same month a year earlier.

It is worth mentioning the heavy trading in stock derivatives in November, with 306,613 Stock Futures and 2,191,023 Stock Options traded and respective year-on-year increases of 99% and 84%.

Trading in Index Futures in November trended upward, with 580,110 IBEX 35 Futures and 289,938 IBEX 35 Options traded, up 3.6% and 6.9% respectively, year-on-year.

 

Fixed Income

The trading volume on the Corporate Debt market of BME in November came in at €10 billion, which brings the total trading volume for the first eleven months of the year to €157.7 billion, down 67.7% from the same period a year earlier.

New Corporate Debt issues admitted to trading totaled €7 billion in November, down 8.6% year-on-year while it totaled €112.8 billion in the first eleven months of the year.

The volume of new admissions in MARF reached €284 million in November, more than 7 times as much as that posted in the same month of last year and it totaled €2.1 billion in the first eleven months of the year, up 192.7% from the same period a year earlier.

Public Debt trading volume on SENAF, BME’s wholesale electronic trading platform, came in at €16.3 billion in November, 10.7% higher than in the same period a year earlier. The trading volume in the first eleven months of the year totaled €160.5 billion, up 61.8% year on year.
